Amaroo launches Project Narmara

Connection was definitely the theme for the night, just under 100 Amaroo Club members and guests were treated to the breathtaking Connection digital art exhibition which brings to life the most expansive tapestry of First Peoples’ art ever assembled. They were also treated to an intimate cocktail party and the exciting announcement of Project Narmara.

Launched by First Nations Future Director and Common Ground CEO Rona Glynn-McDonald, this life-changing project will see 100% of Amaroo Club member donations distributed across nine community organisations and initiatives that First Nations Futures partner with. These organisations and initiatives centre young people, focus on regenerative and intergenerational practice, maintenance of culture and wellbeing of Country for future generations.

Rona talked to the importance of Reciprocity, explaining this is how her cultures live – they give to the land and then land gives back to them. It’s beautiful and powerful in its simplicity, and resonates strongly with Amaroo Club’s desire to connect, share, grow and give.

Andrew Phillips, one of the founders of Amaroo Club, thanked Rona for her inspirational and entrepreneurial leadership and reinforced the Club and Amaroo Foundation’s commitment to supporting First Nations initiatives. Through Project Narmara, $50,000 worth of funding will be provided to First Nations Futures in the first year, made up of $25,000 of donations by Amaroo Club members matched dollar for dollar by Amaroo Foundation.

Continuing the connection spirit of the night, Andrew also interviewed three of our young Amaroo Club members who are forging careers in businesses with purpose. Thanks to Fiona White from Own Body, Elliott Costello from Phantm, and Ed Phillips from Push Pull for sharing your amazing stories.
